Major Layoffs at Zynga Studios

According to a report received by Gamasutra, Zynga has just laid off over 100 employees from it’s Austin studio and has closed their office in Boston completely. The announcement was made during Apple’s press conference this morning.

In Austin, the Zynga team was working on The Ville and a new IP that has yet to be announced. In response, several video game studios have been reaching out through social media in attempts for those recently laid off to find new jobs. Website TechCrunch reported from sources that “almost everyone was in the dark”, and employees were given just 2 hours to clear their desk.

Zynga is set to announce a weak Q3 earnings report tomorrow afternoon, with share prices dipping to an all-time low of $2.20.
