As times change, so too do the people. Announced on his Facebook page today, Joe Madureira, one of the co-founders of Vigil Games in Austin, Texas, has announced his departure from the company. In his seven years with Vigil, Joe was one of the lead art directors and producers of Darksiders and its sequel, Darksiders 2.
“I’m afraid the time has come for me to move on to new adventures. I could not be more proud of what we achieved, or the awesome people who helped build up this studio,” Madureira posted on his Facebook wall, “I can safely say Vigil’s future is in very good hands, so expect only awesomeness down the road. This feels surreal…I miss the place already.”
In a short update, Madureira commented that he will be focusing on comic books before approaching something bigger, “I’ll be talking more about ‘The Next Big Thing’ in the coming months, but in the short term, I’m focusing on banging out a bunch of comics.”
Madureira founded Vigil games in 2005 with 3 other members, and was acquired by publisher in 2006. Their latest title, Darksiders 2, is slated to release on the Nintendo Wii U on November 18th.
